a reply to a youtube post. There are length limits to comments there. He was mad I told him he needed to learn how to care for a tamandua before learning how to get one
------
well now that response was pretty vile and I want to keep things family friendly so it wont be posted. I answered that because it's true. If you put the time and effort into learning how to properly care for one you would get the connections you need to obtain one. People like you are why I don't post specific answers on how to get one on public boards.

You would rather run out and get one now and watch it suffer and die just to have a cool animal to show off to your friends. You wouldn't know what to feed it to keep it well and you can't rely on the person selling it to know what's best. You wont know what do do about it bleeding everywhere from a microscopic wound or just bleeding out from it's mucus membranes. You didn't bother to learn they are hemophiliacs and how to control that with diet.

What will you do when you've got company coming over and your whole house smells like skunk because that's what their pee smells like and you had no idea they smelled before getting one. what will you do when it decides to sleep all day and run all over you keeping you up all night. Keep it in the garage, an out side cage? Poor thing. They thrive on love and attention.

What will you do when it gets pneumonia or heat stroke because you didn't know the acceptable temperatures to keep it at? I can assure you the vet wont know. You didn't bother to find one willing to treat it before getting one, they are few and far between. One that has any knowledge and experience about them is even rarer. So you found a vet he gives you antibiotics now your cool pet is dead. Oh you and your vet didn't know there are certain antibiotics you can't give them. Congratulations on having a cool pet and killing it.

Or you didn't bother to check you state county and city laws and someone saw your cool pet and now the zoo has a cool free anteater, that(see above rant) they have to nurse back to health.

Personally I am an advocate of people being allowed to keep exotic pets. Often they are kept better than the zoos and "professionals". but I am not going to state publicly how everyone can rush out and get one, as if it were that easy any way. Anyone who purposefully gets any animal without learning how to care for it first and it suffers due to them aught to be punished. It's nearly as vile to get an animal knowing nothing about it then get rid of it due to negatives you didn't anticipate, smells, keeps me up all night, ect.

thankfully most people are better than you and care about their animals and not just how cool they will look. Most exotic owners are very caring and do their best for their animals often above and beyond many domestic owners. You get some bad apples but not as many as the domestic owners so i don't see it as a reason to pass ban laws. but i do see it as a reason not to tell the whole world how to get "that cool pet"

Hmm see no wat to title this today, odd.

Tawny fox.
Vulpes flavescens

one of the coolest foxes ever. cuz their so rare. I've never seen another pic of one except this one. They are bigger than a fennec but look similar. They are red-orange in color with black ears. and no black tip on their tail like a fennec has. They are bigger than a fennec but smaller than a bat eared fox.
